Quinta da Sequeira

Quinta da Sequeira, located in the municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, was founded in 1899 by José Joaquim Costa, married to Maria José Sequeira, to whom the name of the Quinta is due. Currently, with 15 ha of vines, Quinta da Sequeira is owned by Mário Cardoso and Maria da Graça, tetraneta of its founder.

We are a family owned and operated business.

Its privileged location in the heart of the Douro Superior, combined with a schistous soil, low rainfall and great thermal amplitudes, provide intense, aromatic and concentrated musts, which are determinant for the quality of Quinta da Sequeira wines.

Because we deeply believe in the importance of the personality and character of the wines, we use only the best and traditional Douro grape varieties, with a predominance of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela and Tinta Barroca in red, white and white varieties, Malvazia Fina , Gouveio, Rabigato, Viosinho and Códega do Larinho. We still preserve the best plots of old vines, some over 100 years old, which, although less productive, offer the highest concentrations.

We are a family owned and operated business.

“The investments made in the vineyards and winery have enabled Quinta da Sequeira to be equipped with modern equipment, which combined with traditional methods of winemaking, such as treading on foot in mills, constitute a guarantee of the quality of our wines.

Quinta da Sequeira's success and recognition is the result of work with passion, devotion and determination. Quality control begins in the vineyard, and all steps, from winemaking to the final product, are subject to strict quality controls and high standards. To achieve this level of excellence, we use only grapes produced at Quinta da Sequeira, and the entire winemaking, aging and bottling process is carried out at the Quinta itself by our winemaking team, without any external dependency. ”
